Tenzi…A Fast, Addictive Dice Game! Who Wants to Play?

Tenzi – the simplest, most action packed dice game I’ve played in a while.  When we were in Chicago visiting my sister, we just had to stop at the local Village Toy Shop.  It’s located just next door to one of my favorite bookstores, The Book Stall in Winnetka, Illinois (a small suburb just outside of Chicago). I was intrigued by this toy shop, because it was one I had not heard of before. It wasn’t a chain – which is what I’m used to.  It was just a small, cute toy store, and if you’re like me, I...

Modern Lovers by Emma Straub

Modern Lovers by Emma Straub, a New York Times bestselling author, and daughter of Peter Straub, a best-selling horror and suspense writer, has been on many lists this summer and many “Employee Picks” shelves that I’ve seen at several bookstores.  The book was released in May (2016), and I saw it many times on shelves before I picked it up.  Here is what I found out… Friends and former college bandmates Elizabeth and Andrew and Zoe have watched one another marry, buy real estate, and start businesses and families, all while trying to hold on to the identities of their...

The Canon AE-1 Program – My Adventure with 35mm Film

Okay…so I went old school again – – I tried to shoot some pictures with my “new” Canon AE-1 Program 35mm film camera.  Another eBay adventure.  I really need to stay away from that website.  I think I’m addicted to old, vintage film cameras.  I love the way they look and feel, but as you’ll see once you read this blog post, I cannot take pictures with them… You may have read my article titled My ‘New’ Pentax K-1000 and my first attempt at shooting with real film.  If not, click on the title and you can read all about it.  If you’ve...

What is Bocce Ball? Do You Prefer Bocce Ball or Corn Hole?

Bocce Ball or Corn Hole? Okay…which team do you play for?  Bocce Ball or Corn Hole?  For me, it’s a tough choice!  It was easy for me before our trip to Chicago.  I was totally team Corn Hole!  While we were visiting my sister in Chicago, she convinced me and my kids to join her in a game of Bocce Ball.  I had heard of it, but really had no idea what it was all about…  So glad I was finally introduced to it – what fun!  The simplest game (just like Corn Hole), that is fun for the...

Giant Bubbles and Water Balloons…All You Need for Summer Fun!

Bubbles, Bubbles, and More Bubbles As a child, I was always so very excited when I got a new bottle of bubbles.  Just a plain, simple plastic bottle of bubbles with one bubble blowing wand that was usually stuck way down in the little bottle.  Almost always, it was necessary to dump 1/2 the bubbles out just to get to the wand.  Remember that?  And then, with that one little bottle of bubbles, we would entertain ourselves for a very long time. We did not have Gazillion Bubbles, Gazillion Bubble Machines, bubble wands, bubble guns, or scented bubbles.  Just bubbles!  Plain...
