VERDICT:  I love it when I accidentally stumble onto a new author that I’ve never even heard of before.  I was strolling through the aisles of my local library, and the cover of this book caught my eye.  I picked it up not only because of the title, but because at the bottom of the book it said  Kate White – New York Times Bestselling Author. That’s usually a good sign.  That means that if I like this one, there will be at least one more that she’s written that lots of other people enjoyed!  Finding a new author that I love is always a happy day.  So…I read the back of the book, and quickly went to check it out.  I was only a few pages in, and I was hooked!

I really enjoyed The Wrong Man.  It was an easy read with lots of suspense.  I loved the main character, Kit Finn.  Not only does she have a totally cool name, but she has a cool job, and she lives in a very cool apartment!  I love books with characters that are likable (and that I can pretend to be) – – I think Kitt and I would be friends in real life, even though I’m sure she’d consider my life pretty boring.

After finishing this book (my first book by this author), I will probably add Kate White to my list of “go-to” authors when I’m looking for an entertaining book to read by the pool or at the beach.  I love all kinds of books, but at this stage in life, when I’m constantly being interrupted while reading, or only getting to read late at night, I prefer to stick to books like this.  Books I refer to as “pool-side books”!  I don’t mean any disrespect to Kate White, but these are books that I can pick up and put down and pick up and put down again and again, and no matter how many times my kids interrupt me, I can come right back to the book and pick up where I left off.  I don’t have to flip back several pages to remind myself what is happening.   It’s an easy, entertaining read with very likable characters!

I’ll save the deep, heavy stuff for a time in my life when I can actually sit down and dig into a book with deep meaning and have long meaningful discussions about it with a book club!  For now, I’ll stick with books like this one – – books that keep me wanting to turn the page because they are entertaining and keep me wondering what is going to happen next!  Or…find out just who is the real killer?  Or…who will Kitt go on a date with next??   Or…was he “the wrong man,” or not?  The Wrong Man by Kate White – I definitely recommend it if you are looking for a good, easy read with a few surprises that did in fact keep me “riveted until the final page”!  Happy reading and enjoy the book!  Until next time…
