Sharkarosa – A Wild Animal Adventure Close to Home…

Sharkarosa?  What?  Is it an aquarium?  I wasn’t sure what Sharkarosa was when I was asked to chaperone my daughter’s field trip to this place.  But…whatever it was, I knew I wanted to go.  I think every field trip with my kids will result in a fun and exciting blog post!  Right?  Or at least a very exciting day filled with stories for the dinner table.  Here’s what I found…  Sharkarosa Wildlife Ranch offers you the opportunity to experience rare and endangered exotic wildlife in a unique and personal setting. What better way to learn about different species than...

The Grumpy Unicorn… A Wonderful Children’s Book by Jen Hodge

The Grumpy Unicorn by Jen Hodge, was one of our treasures that we stumbled upon while we were in San Diego on a short vacation.  We were walking along the boardwalk on Sunday, and there were several tents and tables set up by various people – some were selling jewelry, others were drawing caricatures, and all sorts of other things as well.  We passed by this one little table with an umbrella and a nice lady was sitting there with a stack of books.  Well…for those of you who know me, that is the best way to get my...

50mm Prime – You MUST Get This Lens!!

So I dropped my kiddos off at school and decided that my task for the day was to clean out my “camera closet.”  Well…I don’t want you to think that I have an entire closet dedicated to camera equipment…I wish!  What I actually have is a small shelf, in a closet in my husband’s study that he so graciously gave up for me, and that is where I store all my camera treasures.  One day, I would love to have a camera closet!  Or better yet…an entire camera room! I can dream right? I was sorting through my lenses...

So I was at Market Street last week, and as I passed the floral section, a little container that said “Venus Fly Trap” caught my eye!  What?  A Venus Fly Trap!  How cool!  Right?  Wrong… My kids were thrilled when they came home from school and found this cute little Venus Fly Trap on my kitchen counter.  Who wouldn’t be thrilled?  The label read “The Hungry Venus Fly Trap that captures insects for its own meal.”  And they describe the plant as a carnivorous plant that attracts small insects with sweet smelling nectar, then snaps shut and digests the...

Emporium Pies in Bishop Arts District…YUM!

So I headed off last Friday with my Mom and my sister to have an early Mother’s Day lunch together.  We are all 3 moms, so we decided to celebrate together before the actual day on Sunday.  Our destination?  Eno’s Pizza Tavern in the Bishop Art’s District.  I think I’m becoming a “Bishop Arts District Junkie”!  Remember this area?  I wrote a blog post about Spinster Records?  Well…I have since been back many times.  I’ve just come to  love this area of town.  So we arrived at Eno’s Pizza Tavern and enjoyed their wonderful lunch special – a salad, a personal...
